"A daylight Robbery"
New Delhi, 20th March, 2018. The Times of India News Service (Ram). Delhi is gradually but surely becoming the crime-capital of India. It is no more a safe city it used to be just a few decades ago. It seems that lumpens, thieves and criminals of Delhi have lost the fear of the police and the law. Eve-teasing, snatching, thefts and even daylight robberies have become a part of the social and cultural life of some of the vulnerable spots in the city. Yesterday, another daylight robbery rocked the city exposing the tall claims of the Delhi Police. It was committed in one of the busiest areas of Delhi, Inder Lok, in the forenoon yesterday. The robbers seemed to have done a lot of spade work. Perhaps they had receded the area quite thoroughly. They broke open a side door and entered the house. The owner of the house and his elder son had already left for their shop in Karol Bagh. Only ladies and children were present inside the house. The robbers were four in number and were in their early twenties. They wore masks and waved knives and pistols in their hands. They threatened to kill the inmates if they raised a noise. Women and children were too scared to utter even a word. The robbers demanded the keys of the cupboards and boxes. The ladies did resist but only for a few minutes. They surrendered the keys. The inmates were locked inside the bathroom. The robbers moved around the rooms collecting the valuables and the cash. The whole operation lasted only for ten minutes. They decamped with all the jewellery and about fifty thousand rupees in cash. The neighbours came out for help only when they heard the cries of the locked inmates. The lock was broken. The police was informed and as usual they took another hour to register their presence at the site. Another case was registered. One more crime was recorded in the police diary.
